Bhubaneswar: A special squad of the Commissionerate Police on Tuesday arrested a brown sugar dealer from Khandagiri here and seized about 250 grams of brown sugar worth Rs 25 lakh from his possession.
The arrested dealer used to supply brown sugar to agents, who then sold the narcotics to retailers in Odisha capital, Bhubaneswar DCP Anup Sahu told the media.
Without revealing the name of the arrested, the DCP said the dealer used to collect narcotics from Jaleswar in Balasore district.
Notably, Jaleswar has been a hub of brown sugar trade. Brown sugar is brought to Jaleswar from the neighbouring West Bengal and then transported to several districts of Odisha, including Cuttack and Bhubaneswar, through dealers.
