Balasore: A team of Excise officials seized brown sugar worth Rs 31 lakh during a raid on the house of Munna Khan alias Mir Rahat Ali, a drug mafia, at Sasanbad village under Sadar Police limits in Odisha’s Balasore district on Wednesday.
The Excise team arrested mother of Munna Khan after seizing brown sugar worth 310 gram from her possession. However, the drug mafia managed to escape.
According to police, Munna runs a drug syndicate in West Bengal and North Odisha. He procures brown sugar from Bangladesh and circulates the narcotic to other parts of the state.
He has over 40 cases pending against him in different police stations in West Bengal and Odisha.
