Cuttack: As the Odisha government has cancelled the annual Matric examination in view of the alarming surge in COVID-19 cases, the Board of Secondary Education (BSE) on Friday finalized the alternative evaluation method for announcement of results.
Evaluation will be done on the basis of marks secured in half-yearly and annual exams for Class IX students, and marks obtained in second, third and fourth practice tests for Class X students.
Emphasis will be given on 40 per cent marks of Class IX and 60 per cent marks of Class X.
The Board also said that if a Class X student has not appeared in any practice test, evaluation will be done on basis of marks he/she has secured in Class IX annual examination. But if a student has appeared in at least one practice test, 70 per cent of the marks he/she has secured in Class IX annual exam will be taken into consideration.

To prepare the results, BSE has identified 2766 schools as mentor schools. The headmaster of the mentor school will upload the highest marks secured by students in different subjects on the BSE portal www.bseodisha.ac.in between May 24 and 31.
The Board has also kept the offline exam option open for students who are not satisfied with the results. However, offline examination will be conducted after the pandemic situation improves, stated Board authorities.
