BSF Recovers Huge Explosives In Maoist Dump In Odisha’s Malkangiri
Malkangiri: In a major success in anti-naxal operation, security forces have unearthed a dump of Maoists and recovered huge quantities of explosive materials and other items in Jodamba area of Odisha’s Malkangir district.
Acting on a specific information, BSF personnel belonging to 177th Battalion launched an operation in Jantri panchayat under Jodambo police limits and found a Maoist dump near a creek at Arlingpada.
According to a BSF press release, the seized items included 14 detonators, seven gelatin sticks, four bundles of cordex wire, six batteries, electric wires, bundles of broken glass pieces wrapped in umbrella cloth, an empty tiffin box and other items. Such items are used for making improvised explosive devices (IEDs).
It may be noted here that the BSF has been carrying out anti-Maoist operation in parts of Malkangiri district. The security forces are hopeful that after recovery of IED-making materials will definitely demoralise the left wing extremists (LWEs) and and their sympathizers.
“The recovery of such Maoist items would certainly ensure safety and security for the security forces as well as local populace in the region. Security personnel are also carrying out an operation to remove mines in Swabhiman Anchal, which was once a stronghold of Maoists,” the press release added.
