Budget Drawn Up For Repair Of Dhauli Shanti Stupa In Bhubaneswar
Bhubaneswar: The repair work of Buddhist Shanti Stupa (Peace Pagoda) at Dhauligiri on the outskirts of the city will be undertaken with a budget of Rs 1 crore.
A decision in this regard was taken at a meeting presided by Minister of State for Social security and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities Ashok Chandra Panda here on Monday. It was decided that the project will be implemented under the supervision of eminent sculptor Sudarshan Sahoo and additional district collector.
Panda, who is the MLA of Ekamra-Bhubaneswar constituency, announced to contribute Rs 50 lakh from his MLA fund and the Dhauli Development Committee will give the matching amount for the project.
It was also decided at the meeting that the Kalinga-Nippon Sangh, which will take up the repair work, will be paid Rs 20,000 per month.
Besides the minister, sculptor and additional collector, secretary of the Sangh Liu Kio Yung and Buddhist missionaries attended the meeting.
