Odisha Budget Session Begins Today, Top Security Cover For Assembly

Bhubaneswar: The commissionerate police have made three-tier security arrangements for the budget session of the Odisha Assembly beginning from Tuesday.

DCP (Bhubaneswar) Anup Sahu informed 28 platoons of police have been deployed in and around the State Assembly. The security will be monitored by an additional police commissioner, DCP, four additional DCPs, eight ACPs, 14 inspectors, 85 sub-inspectors and assistant sub-inspectors, three units of quick reaction team (QRT) and Special Branch officers.

“Of the 28 platoons of police, 10 platoons have been deployed around the State Assembly while 18 platoons will be deployed at PMG Square. To monitor the movement of the agitators of various organisations, 18 CCTV cameras have been installed along PMG Square and the State Assembly. To monitor the security forces, six temporary control rooms have been set up,” the DCP said.

Director General of Police (DGP) RP Sharma said since 28 organisations have put up their camps at PMG Square for demonstration, three ACPs, two IICs, 11 additional IICs and armed police will be deployed near the site. “Besides, to monitor the movement of the agitators, CCTV cameras have been put up at Master Canteen Square, AG Square, Rabindra Mandap and Raj Mahal Square.”

The budget session will be held in two phases. The first phase will be held from June 25 to July 3, while the second phase will be held from July 12 to August 8.

Out of a total of 45 days, the Assembly session will have 31 workdays. The House will remain closed on June 30, July 13, 14, 21 and 28 and August 4. Besides, it will also remain closed from July 3 to 11 on account of Rath Yatra.
