It is conventional for companies selling similar products to take a jibe at each other on social media; however, promoting its rival brands is a rarity. This is what has astounded most of the netizens after Burger King, a multinational chain of hamburger fast food restaurants, put out a tweet asking people to buy stuff from its rivals.
Burger King took to its Twitter handle and enjoined its customers in the United Kingdom to order food from its competitor food chains like McDonald’s, KFC, Papa John’s, Taco Bells etc., reported NDTV.
Asking people to support restaurants–employing thousands of people– which have been hit because of the COVID-19 pandemic, Burger King UK wrote, “We never thought we’d be asking you to do this, but restaurants employing thousands of staff really need your support at the moment…Getting a Whopper is always best, but ordering Big Mac is also not such a bad thing.”
The tweet went viral in no time, with social media users praising Burger King for this out of the box gesture.
