Cuttack: A bus carrying migrant workers from Tamil Nadu to Bhadrak met with an accident near Tangi in Cuttack district on Tuesday morning.
Ten among them sustained injuries and have been admitted to SCB Medical College and Hospital here. The rescue operation is still underway..
According to sources, the bus rammed into a stationary truck parked along the road after the driver lost control over the vehicle.
It is the fifth such road mishap involving migrants en-route to Odisha from other states. Kalinga Ghati in Kandhamal saw two accidents within a span of 24 hours, leaving two dead and several injured. The driver of a bus was killed after he rammed the vehicle into a truck on NH-16 near Kuhudi in Khurda district.
Similarly, five persons were injured when a bus carrying migrants from Surat to Ganjam overturned on Nagpur-Amravati National Highway (NH) in Maharashtra. These accidents took place between May 2 and May 5.
On May 6, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik announced that all workers from other states would, henceforth, be brought back only by trains.
