Cuttack: A minor girl was allegedly molested by a bus conductor in Odisha. The incident came to light after the minor’s family lodged a police complaint against the accused bus conductor.
According to sources, the minor girl along with his father was waiting for the bus at the Angul bus stand on November 5. Her father made her wait at the stand and went for some work.
Thereafter, the bus conductor took advantage of the situation and allegedly took the minor inside the bus and molested her.
The family members of the victim have registered a complaint against the bus conductor regarding the incident at Badambadi police station.
A case has been registered under section 354 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and POCSO Act and initiated a probe into the matter. The twin city commissionerate police formed a team and went to Angul to nab the accused who had allegedly fled.
The bus associations have condemned the incident and informed that previously the accused had been involved in many crimes.
“The minor alleged that while she was standing alone, the conductor molested her inside the bus. After the complaint was filed, a team went to the bus stand to apprehend the accused, but he fled from the spot. He must have been in an inebriated state while conducting the crime. Police probe is underway,” a local businessman told media.
