Bhubaneswar: Plans are afoot for state-of-the-art bus queue shelters (BQS) in the city ahead of Odisha Hockey Men’s World Cup 2018.
According to official sources, the BQS are part of the Bhubaneswar City Bus Modernisation Project (BCBMP). As the city is planning to have new buses, these along with BQS will lend a smart look to the Odisha capital.
JSL Lifestyle Limited has won the bid to put the ultra modern facility made of stainless steel across the city at an estimated expenditure of more than Rs 20 crore. The expenses will be borne by Bhubaneswar Smart City Limited. The modern BQS are expected to come up within three months of signing of the agreement.
The ultra modern bus queue shelters would have polycarbonate semi-transparent shed to protect against the elements, stainless steel cycle stand in which the cyclists can place their bikes and use the city bus services.
The BQS will have seating space, stainless dustbins, vertical signage posts, back-lit display signage board with map of Bhubaneswar. GPS-based public information system (PIS) mounted on the BQS will show real-time information on buses plying on the routes. The PIS will be linked to the city operations centre for better coordination among users (passengers) and operators, the sources added.
