Bhubaneswar: Decrying the Centre’s refusal to enhance Odisha’s kerosene
quota, BJD youth activists here on Monday took out a bike rally demanding immediate hike in the fossil fuel’s allocation for the state.

The rally started from BJD office and reached Raj Bhawan after covering Raj Mahal, Master Canteen and Ram Mandir squares.

Later, the party members staged a dharna in front of Raj Bhawan and submitted a memorandum to the President through Governor S C Jamir, seeking immediate hike in kerosene quota for the state. “The Centre has slashed 36 per cent of the State’s kerosene quota this year and allotted only 62, 112 kilo litre of kerosene,” said Biju Yuva Janata Dal (BYJD) president Sanjay Dasburma, who is also the state’s food supplies and consumer welfare minister.

On April 11 and 12, BJD workers will stage demonstrations before revenue divisional commissioners’ offices in Berhampur and Sambalpur respectively.
