Bhubaneswar: The Cabinet Committee on Investment (CCI) Project Monitoring Group (PMG) on Friday appreciated Odisha’s performance during a review of eight major projects involving an investment of around Rs 26,620 crore in Odisha. These included four railway, two national highways, one power, and one oil and gas projects.
At a meeting chaired by chief secretary Suresh Chandra Mahapatra here on Friday, the committee discussed and resolved 42 issues relating to forest clearance, compensatory afforestation, tree felling, disbursement of compensation wards, according to a release.
The PMG head Guruprasad Mohapatra, secretary, Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, applauded Odisha as a “performing State” in many programmes including CCI projects.
The committee helps both the project proponents and the people through the expeditious implementation of the projects, he said.
The chief secretary directed the project proponents and implementing departments to keep pace with timelines set against different phases of the projects. The joint exercise has been very fruitful in the progress of the projects, he said.
Among others, Development Commissioner PK Jena; secretary, Forest and Environment Mona Sharma; secretary, Industry Hemant Sharma and senior officers from various departments participated in the discussion. Besides, officers from PMG and Collectors participated through video conferencing.
