Kandhamal: Police on Thursday destroyed cannabis plants that were being illegally cultivated on 57 acres of land in Sarlaguda panchayat under Gochapada police limits in Kandhamal district.
As per information, the estimated cost of the destroyed ganja plants is about ₹6 crore.
The raid was conducted after receiving information regarding the rampant cultivation of ganja plants in the area. Similar raids will be carried out in other parts of the district to destroy such illegal cultivation in a phased manner, a police officer informed.
Three days ago, a joint team of excise, intelligence and police officials destroyed 1.35 lakh ganja plants worth ₹13.50 crore at Laxmipur village under Sandhipada panchayat in Boudh district.
