Cannes Spotlight Shines On ‘T’, Movie On Odia Transgender Cabbie
Bhubaneswar: The Cannes spotlight shone on an Odia movie with the trailer and poster of ‘T’ showcased at the India pavilion of the prestigious film festival. Actor-producer Jitendra Rai launched the film at the event.
The launch was attended by actor Inaam ul Haq, actor Rishi Bhutani and director-producer Rahat Kazmi.
The film is based on the real-life story of Meghna Sahoo, India’s first transgender cab driver. It is shot in Odisha. Rai congratulated lead actor Dev for wonderfully portraying the character of Meghna Sahoo in the film.
“I am thrilled by the response our trailer and poster received at the most prestigious film festival. The film is very special as I feel stories like Meghna’s need to be told and should be known by all. She is an inspiration to her community and all of us. I hope we are able to do justice to the film. We are planning to release the film in theatres soon,” director Jitesh Kumar Parida said in a statement.
“It was a dream come true for me. I have fulfilled the promise I made three years back at Cannes of making a film from my own land (Odisha) as it has huge potential for world cinema,” he said.
Jitesh Kumar and Jitendra Rai have produced this film.
