Captaincy Controversy: Angry Netizens Want ‘Liar’ Ganguly To Resign After Kohli’s Presser

New Delhi: Angry netizens are demanding Sourav Ganguly’s resignation from Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president’s post after Virat Kohli on Wednesday presented his side of the story on being removed as Team India ODI captain.

After Kohli announced three months ago that he would be quitting as India’s T20I captain post the World Cup which took place in October-November, Indian selectors removed from ODI leadership role last week while selecting the squad for upcoming South Africa tour.

Ganguly had said he had personally requested Kohli not to relinquish T20I captaincy.

But Kohli said during a virtual press conference today that his decision had been seen as a progressive step when he communicated his wish to the BCCI. The Test captain added that he had not been asked to refrain from stepping down as T20I skipper, as claimed by Ganguly.

No sooner had word spread about Kohli’s press conference than Twitteratti pulled up Ganguly, with some calling him one of ‘greatest liars’ in Indian cricket and others calling for his resignation.

Here are some of the reactions:
