Mayurbhanj: Carcass of a two-month-old elephant calf was recovered from Nafri forest in Bangiriposhi of Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district on Tuesday.
According to sources, some locals spotted the calf lying on the ground and informed the forest officials.
On being informed, DFO and other forest officials arrived at the spot and initiated an investigation into the incident to ascertain the exact cause of the death.
On Monaday, an elephant calf was found dead inside Nota forest under Kaptipada forest range. The forest officials suspected that the calf might have died during a fight between two groups. Almost half of the carcass was found buried in the mud.
