Keonjhar: The forest staff on Sunday found carcasses of a male and female elephant in Gurubeda area inside Baitarani (B) reserve forest under Champua forest range in Odisha’s Keonjhar district.
A patrolling team of forest guards spotted the carcasses in the afternoon and informed the range office. Following information, the Forest Ranger and the Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) rushed to the spot.

Preliminary investigation revealed that that the two elephants were killed by the poachers as the tusks of the male elephant were missing.
A manhunt has begun in the area to trace the poachers, forest officials said.
