Cargo Ship At Chilika: Owner Asked To Extract Oil In 2 Days
Puri: The Puri district administration has served notice on the owner of the Malaysian cargo ship ‘Jin Hwa 32’ asking it to extract oil from the ship in two days.
Besides, it also asked the owner to take necessary measures to remove the stranded ship from the Puri sea coast within a week.
The process to extract oil from the ship had begun on Wednesday by a Mumbai-based company. As informed by the company, there has been no leakage of oil from the ship since its engine is active.
The ill-fated ship with seven Malaysians, two Filipinos and one Indian on board, was on the way to Visakhapatnam port to pick up new cargo after unloading its shipment in Bangladesh when it got caught in a storm in the Bay of Bengal and drifted towards Odisha on the night and got stuck near Rajhans on Chilika shore on August 7.
