New Delhi: Major archaeological findings such as carvings on sandstone, a 5 feet Shiv Ling and 7 pillars of black touchstone, broken idols were discovered while land levelling work at Ram Janmabhoomi in Ayodhya on Thursday.
“Discovered pillars in the debris of the structure and carvings on sandstone. Found a Shivling there and a similar one at Kuber Teela,” said General Secretary of the Sri Ram Janmabhoomi Tirth Kshetra Trust Champat Rai.
The land is being levelled after removing debris for the past 10 days.
The Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) also claimed that many objects of archaeological importance like flowers made of stone, kalash, dorjamb and aamalak, have been discovered since the beginning of the excavation process.
The Archaeological Survey of India in 2018 while carrying out an extensive survey at the site had found extensive brick foundations, which supported the pillars of a pre-existed temple.
