‘Case Against Sanjay Singh Genuine’: Delhi Court Denies AAP Leader Bail
New Delhi: AAP leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh was on Friday denied bail in the Delhi liquor policy case.
Delhi’s Rouse Avenue court, which heard the bail plea, said that the case against Singh “is genuine” and the evidence pointed to his involvement in the alleged money-laundering.
The material presented to the court showed that Singh was “directly or indirectly involved in the process or activities connected with the proceeds of crime” generated through the alleged money-laundering.
Singh’s lawyers argued that the case against the AAP leader is politically motivated and there is no money trail against him, but it failed to convince the court.
Two months ago, the Delhi High Court dismissed Singh’s petition challenging his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the subsequent remand. ED arrested Singh on October 4 after searches at his house in Delhi.
ED filed a supplementary chargesheet in which Singh has been named as an accused.
