New Delhi: The Supreme Court Collegium has recommended that Justice Yashwant Varma, from whose residence a pile of burnt cash was allegedly recovered on Holi, should be transferred to the Allahabad High Court.
The top court has forwarded its resolution sent to the Central government for approval.
“The Supreme Court Collegium, in its meetings held on 20th and 24th March 2025, has recommended repatriation of Mr Justice Yashwant Varma, Judge, High Court of Delhi, to the High Court of Judicature at Allahabad,” the top court said in a statement on Monday.
The recommendation comes amid protests by Allahabad High Court Bar Association, which had written to the Chief Justice of India Sanjiv Khanna opposing the Justice Khanna’s transfer back to his original court.
In a strongly-worded letter, the bar association questioned whether the Allahabad High Court, Justice Varma’s parent court, was a ‘trash bin’.
