Jharsuguda: Police seized cash worth Rs 2.5 lakh from a vehicle near Badmal police station in Odisha’s Jharsuguda district on Thursday night.
According to police, Badmal police flagged down an SUV en route Champa in Chhattisgarh from Sambalpur. During the search, police recovered Rs 2.5 lakh in cash from the vehicle. The owner of the vehicle, Arvind Agrawal, had been detained for interrogation.
Notably, the district election officers, acting on the directive of the Election Commission of India, have asked the police to frisk the vehicles and detain the owner if he/she is found carrying cash more than Rs 50,000.
