Berhampur: The Taptapani Ghat in Odisha’s Ganjam district witnessed a major accident on Monday when a cashew-laden truck overturned onto a car, partially crushing it and trapping the driver inside.
According to sources, the accident took place near Khemundi Khola when five individuals were travelling from Bhubaneswar to Taptapani, a popular picnic spot known for its hot spring and the

Though the occupants of the car were pulled to safety by locals and passersby, the driver remained trapped inside the mangled vehicle. Fire Service teams from nearby Sanakhemundi and Patapur police soon reached the spot and rescued the driver, who had been admitted to Digapahandi CHC with minor injuries.
Meanwhile, police have launched an investigation into the exact cause of the collision.
This has come amid the death of a person, driving a Bolero, after a husk-laden truck overturned onto the vehicle on the busy Nainital Highway in Rampur on Sunday evening, while the former was attempting to negotiate a turn at a cut at the busy Pahadi Gate intersection.
