Lucknow: A lawyer in Uttar Pradesh’s Mirzapur was shot dead by two bike-borne miscreants on Saturday. He died on the spot. The panic was felt not just in the area. The attackers also appeared panicked as they were unable to leave from the spot. Their vehicle malfunctioned.
The viral CCTV video of the incident show the duo approaching the senior advocate Rajiv Singh, who was out on a morning walk. One of the men gets off the vehicle and fires at him using a crude pistol.
As one of the attackers keeps trying to start the motorcycle, some men approach them. However, they stay away and eventually run off as the other attacker points the pistol at them. After minutes of trying, the vehicle finally starts. The two men the ride off.
The police said a case has been registered.
“Preliminary indications suggest that the dispute may have stemmed from issues or conflicts arising within the village itself. However, we are currently examining all angles and conducting a thorough, in-depth investigation. We will ensure that the strictest possible legal action is taken against the individual responsible for committing this crime,” a senior police officer told reporters, as quoted by NDTV.
