New Delhi: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has cleared a proposal to increase the fees for Class X and Class XII board exams of both general as well as SC&ST category students.
The exam fee hike will be 24 times in case of SC&ST students as they will now have to pay Rs 1,200 for five subjects instead of Rs 50. The general category students will pay Rs 1,500 instead of Rs 750.
According to news wire PTI, CBSE had asked all its affiliated schools to collect the difference in fee if they have already registered for next year’s exams in February.
The report did not cite any reason behind the move.
For appearing in an additional subject in Class XII, both SC&ST and general students will have to pay Rs 300. Earlier, the SC&ST students were not charged anything for the additional subject, it added.
