CBSE Tightens Norms For Changing Schools In Class X and XII

New Delhi: If you are a Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) student and planning to shift to a better school in Class X or XII, hold back.

CBSE has tightened the norms to prevent school migration in these classes. If still a student wishes to shift his or her school, the parents will have to provide the required documents. Apart from that, both the schools (the admitting and leaving school) will also have to attach the records of the CBSE Board Results of the previous five years.

According to a CBSE circular, in case of other reasons such as transfer of parents, they will have to furnish the new address proof and transfer orders. Documents supporting admission on medical grounds will also be required to seek admission.

Giving reasons for the new rules regarding change of schools in Class X and XII. It said as the registration process for the Board exams begins from Class IX and XII respectively, the Board has to do extra paperwork for students who change their schools in Class X and XII. Due to this extra paperwork, mistakes take place.

The Board advised all the students that in case they desire to shift, they must change their schools in Class IX and XI instead of X and XII.

Media reports quoted some educationists saying that stricter guidelines were perhaps needed as many students shift to other schools when their previous schools repudiate to promote students because of Board examinations in Class X and XII.
