CCTV Cameras To Be Installed At All Ry Stations Across Odisha: DGP

Bhubaneswar: To provide a secure travel experience to train passengers, Odisha Police is pitching for installation of CCTV cameras at all railway stations across the state, informed Director General of Police (DGP) Rajendra Prasad Sharma on Wednesday.

In a meeting of the state-level empowered committee held at DGP camp office here, Sharma said that some important trains will be under CCTV surveillance soon.  “Currently, as many as eight stations are equipped with luggage scanners and the facility will be extended to other prominent stations in the near future,” he said.

Stressing the need for ensuring safety of railway passengers in Maoist-hit areas of the state, the DGP said SPs of all the districts have been instructed to adhere to Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) while dealing with security issues at these places.

Railway Additional Director General (ADG) Pranabindhu Acharya and senior officials from railways and state police were present at the meeting.
