CCTV Footage Of Murderous Attack On Puri Jagannath Temple Supervisor Goes Viral
Puri: Two days after the murderous attack on the supervisor of Shree Jagannath Temple in Odisha’s Puri town, CCTV footage of the incident has gone viral
The video shows that the daring incident took place in full public glare in the presence of several devotees near the west gate of the 12th century shrine.
People present near the site were watching silently as the attacker mounted an assault on temple supervisor Baxi Ramachandra Pratihari with a sharp-edged weapon. The incident reportedly took place on Friday.
Notably, supervisor Pratihari had recently removed several non-servitors selling Rabidi (a sweet dish made of condensed milk) in the Anand Bazaar of the temple.
Angry over the action taken by him, a man attacked Pratihari when he was taking out his two-wheeler near the west gate of the temple. The video shows the man attacking Pratihari with a sharp weapon and chasing him.
The video showed how the accused attacked Pratihari while others watched as mute spectators. The attacker was seen walking away, leaving Pratihari injured.
The temple supervisor was immediately rushed to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) in Puri by the temple officials. However, the police are yet to apprehend the accused.
A senior police official said that investigation into the incident is underway and efforts are on to establish the identity of the attacker.
A day after the incident, the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) on Saturday suspended a Pantibadu servitor from temple duties.
