Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Vigilance sleuths on Wednesday apprehended Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) of Ganjam’s Beguniapada Sandhyarani Panigrahi while allegedly accepting Rs 12,000 bribe.
According to Vigilance sources, the CDPO had allegedly demanded the illegal gratification from a staffer of an Anganwadi Centre to release the arrear remuneration. She was caught red-handed while accepting Rs 12,000 from the complainant at her office at Beguniapada. The entire bribe money was recovered from her and seized.
A case has been registered under Section 7 of Prevent of Corruption (Amendment), Act, 2018, and simultaneous house searches are on at three locations linked to the CDPO to ascertain whether she has accumulated assets disproportionate to her known sources of income.
