Celebrities Mourn Tragic Loss Of Lives In Bengaluru Stampede

New Delhi: Following the unfortunate stampede near the Chinnaswamy Cricket Stadium in Bengaluru which left nearly 11 people dead and several injured, celebrities, including cricketers and film stars, took to their social media handles to mourn the loss of lives.

Calling the incident a “heart wrenching tragedy”, actor Kamal Haasan wrote, “Deeply distressed and my heart reaches out to the families of the victims in this moment of grief. May the injured recover soon.”

Condoling the deaths, actor R Madhavan posted, “This is so heartbreaking. Heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families. Please be responsible and safe and do not respond to rumours without checking with the authorities.”

‘Hera Pheri’ actor, Suniel Shetty shared, “A moment of joy… turned into something unimaginable!!! Absolutely heartbroken to hear about the lives lost in Bengaluru. Prayers for the families who lost their loved ones.”

Expressing his sorrow over the loss of lives in the incident, actor Vivek Oberoi wrote, “It’s truly saddening to lose loved ones, especially during what should have been a moment of collective joy in cricket. To the families and friends now facing this unimaginable void, our hearts ache with yours. We send our deepest condolences and heartfelt support, hoping you find some solace amidst this profound grief. May strength and peace be with you.”

Actor Sonu Sood posted, “Heartbroken by the tragedy during the IPL celebrations in Bengaluru. No celebration is worth a life; Prayers for the families and all those affected.”

Former RCB captain Virat Kohli wrote, “At a loss for words. Absolutely gutted.”

Sachin Tendulkar wrote on X, “What happened at Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru, is beyond tragic. My heart goes out to every affected family. Wishing peace and strength to all.”

Anil Kumble posted, “It’s a Sad day for Cricket! My heart goes out to the families of those who lost their lives while celebrating RCB’s victory today. Praying for the speedy recovery of those injured.  Tragic !! 💔💔”

AB De Villiers posted, “My thoughts and prayers are with all those affected by the tragic events at the Chinnaswamy stadium today.”

Yuvraj Singh wrote, “What was meant to be a moment of celebration turned into an unimaginable tragedy. My heart goes out to everyone affected by the incident in #Bengaluru. May the families find strength and the departed souls rest in peace 🙏🏻”

Irfan Pathan shared, “Fans are the heart of cricket and of our lives. The tragic loss of lives in today’s stampede in Bengaluru is deeply heartbreaking. My thoughts and heartfelt condolences are with the families affected by this unimaginable tragedy.”

The incident took place on Wednesday evening ahead of the IPL victory celebrations for Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

Lakhs of people had gathered at the Chinnaswamy stadium, with a capacity of just 35,000, to participate in festivities thereby making it difficult for the police and local administration to manage the crowd.

As per reports, nearly 11 people died and 33 have been injured in the stampede.
