Bhubaneswar: Without knowledge and a teacher’s guidance, a person walks through life directionless. Parents are the first teachers of a child and the role is later taken up by a guru, whose contribution is vital.
Guru Purnima is a day dedicated to teachers. It is generally celebrated in India, Nepal and other countries with strong Buddhism and Jainism influence.
It falls on the full moon day (Purnima) of the Hindu month of Ashadha, between June and July. This day marks the peak of the lunar cycle after the solar cycle.
