The Finance Ministry, in a release on Monday, said the proposals have been approved under the Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment 2023-24 scheme.

Under the scheme, the Ministry has approved Rs 4,528 crore for Odisha to cover the projects in different sectors including health, education, irrigation, water supply, power, roads, bridges and Railways.

It may be noted that the Centre had launched the scheme in Union Budget 2023-24 to give a boost to capital spending by the states considering high capital expenditure in the projects. A special assistance is provided to the states in the form of 50-year interest-free loan upto Rs 1.3 lakh crore during the financial year under the scheme.
