Bhubaneswar: The Centre has approved two new government medical colleges in Balasore and Balangir districts of Odisha.
Union Health Minister JP Nadda informed Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan about the decision through a letter, which was released to media on Thursday.
Nadda said the two new government medical colleges in Balasore and Balangir, having 100 MBBS seats each and attached to the existing district/referral hospitals, will come up under the Centrally-Sponsored Scheme.
The Health Ministry has approved two schemes of the Odisha government for the academic year 2018-19.
“Apart from this, the ministry has also approved confirmation of conditional permission issued to Pandit Raghunath Murmu Medical College and Hospital in Baripada for academic year 2017-18 and renewal of permission for admission of second batch at the college for the academic year 2018-19,” he added.
