Mumbai: A CEO of a tech firm was killed on Sunday after being knocked down by a car here on Sunday.
The 42-year-old Rajalakshmi Vijay, CEO of Altruist Technologies, met with the accident during her morning walk at Worli sea-face promenade in south Mumbai.
According to eye witnesses, Rajalakshmi was thrown several feet in the air after a Tata Nexon, travelling at a high speed, hit her.
She sustained severe injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital, where she was declared dead.
According to police, her husband was jogging with her and had reached Shivaji Park when he got a call from the police about his wife’s accident at Worli sea-face.
Local people caught hold of the car driver, Sumer Merchant, and handed him over to Worli police. He sustained minor injuries.
Police registered a case against the 23-year-old driver under relevant sections of IPC, including rash and negligent driving, and causing death by negligence.
Rajalakshmi, a fitness enthusiast, was part of a joggers’ forum in the city. She recently took part in the Tata Mumbai Marathon and completed the entire distance.
One of her co-runners informed that Rajalakshmi had been preparing to participate in the London Marathon.
