Keonjhar: The 87th Chaiti Parba of Maa Tarini at Ghatagaon in Odisha’s Keonjhar district kicked off on Sunday with religious fervour and gaiety. Thousands of devotees from various parts of the state and outside thronged the shrine to witness the colourful festival which will continue for seven days.
Chaiti Parba is the main festival of the Goddess Tarini. On the inaugural day, the deity has been attired with gold ornaments. Devotees in large numbers are having darshan of the Goddess in Suna Besa. It is believed that Maa Tarini showers her blessings on devotees during darshan in Suna Besa.
Source said, early in the morning, priests and servitors had performed various rituals like Marjana, Mangal Alati and Sodasa Upachar niti.
In view of the large congregation, the administration has put in place various arrangements for devotees to ensure smooth conduct of the festival and hassle-free darshan of the goddess inside the shrine. The administration have put up barricades for smooth movement of devotees.
Police personnel have been deployed in strength in the area, while parking lots have been made for the convenience of visitors and smooth flow of traffic.
