The meeting between the two leaders comes amid heightened tensions surrounding Trump’s trade tariffs on several countries, and ongoing mass deportation of illegal immigrants. These issues may come up in the meeting between the two leaders. PM Modi will be the fourth global leader to meet Trump at the White House since his inauguration on January 20, marking his second tenure. The US President has already hosted Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Japan’s Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba, and Jordan’s King Abdullah during his second term.
A warm reception in the winter chill!

“Will PM Modi Raise Indians’ Deportations, Palestine Stand?”
Ahead of Trump-Modi meet, senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh asked if Modi will raise the way Indians were deported from the US and India’s stand on Palestine.
“The PM will be first hugging and then meeting with his ‘good friend’ President Trump at 2:30AM IST on the morning of Feb 14th. India has already appeased the US President by slashing import duties on some farm produce and on Mr. Trump’s favorite Harley-Davidson motorcycles. A commitment has also been made to amend the Civil Liability for Nuclear Damages Act, 2010 – which American companies have been demanding. No doubts pacts will be signed and contracts for defence acquisitions firmed up,” Ramesh wrote on X as he also put forth some questions for the PM.
