Raipur: Chhattisgarh Governor Anusuiya Uikey is fuming after not having received an invitation for the second India versus New Zealand ODI held at the Chhattisgarh capital on January 21.
Chief minister Bhupesh Baghel, his ministers and MLAs, as well as judges of Chhattisgarh High Court watched the match at Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Cricket Stadium, which was hosting its first international fixture.
The Governor took strong exception against the state government and Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for the ‘biased’ approach against her and felt she was deliberately ignored by the organisers. Raj Bhavan will register its protest with the Indian government and BCCI, TOI reported quoting sources.
The state government reportedly passed the buck, saying that such matches are organised by BCCI.
The Congress-helmed state government has been at loggerheads with the Governor over the Reservation Amendment Bill.
The Governor refused to sign the bill which was unanimously passed by the Chhattisgarh legislative assembly during last month’s special session, citing legal hurdles.
The state government accused Raj Bhavan of dancing to BJP’s tune.
India romped to an 8-wicket win to seal the series at the 65,000-capacity stadium, which is India’s third biggest after Eden Gardens (67,000) and Narendra Modi Stadium, Motera (1 lakh).
