Raipur: In a bid to prevent chaotic queues at liquor stores, the Chhattisgarh government on Tuesday started home delivery service of liquor in its green zones.
A customer can order up to 5,000 ml of liquor online, the state public relations department said in a statement.
Similarly, Punjab has allowed online delivery of alcohol between 1pm and 6pm. Liquor stores will be open from 9am to 1pm from May 6, the Excise and Taxation Department of Punjab noted.
Punjab is looking to earn taxes from the sale of liquor after incurring losses of Rs 500 crore in April.
Some states such as Delhi and Andhra Pradesh have increased taxes on alcohol to generate revenue as well as curb the consumption.
