Bhubaneswar: Wasim Jaffer arrived in the capital city on Friday afternoon to take charge of the Odisha cricket team as chief coach.
Addressing his first press meet at the OCA Conference Hall, Barabati Stadium, in the evening, the former India opener said he was optimistic of helping the Odisha team emerge as one of the best in domestic cricket.
Appreciating the efforts undertaken by Odisha Cricket Association (OCA) in recent years, Jaffer lauded OCA secretary Sanjay Behera for the ambitious Vision@2024 project.
OCA appointed the 43-year Jaffer as chief coach of the senior team for 2021-23, ninne days ago.
Jaffer is the most successful batsman in Indian domestic cricket and is the only cricketer to score over 12,000 runs in Ranji Trophy.
