Chinese Soldier ‘Strays’ Into Ladakh, Arrested
New Delhi: Security forces have arrested a Chinese soldier in Ladakh on Monday.
The soldier was caught from Chumar-Demchok area of Eastern Ladakh near the India-China border, news agency ANI reported.
It is suspected the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) soldier, identified as Corporal Wang Ya Long, entered the Indian side inadvertently.
Wang, who is currently held captive by the Indian Army, will be handed over to Chinese officials at the Chushul–Moldo meeting point after completion of due procedures.
The PLA soldier has been administered medical assistance, including oxygen. He has also been provided with food and warm clothes.
This incident comes amidst India-China planning to hold eighth round of discussion to resolve the Line of Actual Control (LAC) dispute in Ladakh.
