Bhubaneswar: Local lad Chinmay Pradhan lived up to expectations and rallied into the final of Gurukul AITA-OTA Men’s 50L tennis tournament at Gurukul Resort tennis complex in Mendhasal on Thursday. He defeated Nikshep BRavikumar of Karnataka 3-6, 6-4, 6-3.
However, in doubles, the pair of Chinmay and Umair Shaikh lost to Bharat N Kumaran and Arya KS Siddhart 1-6, 5-7 in the semi-final stage.
In the other semi-fonal, Tamil Nadu’s unseeded player Arjun Ahadevan upset sixth-ranked Arya KS Siddharth from the same state to set up title summit with Chinmay. Arjun won straight sets 7-6 (5), 6-3.
