New Delhi: A Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel has been suspended following accusations that he clicked a woman’s photographs without her consent inside a Delhi Metro coach, an episode that triggered a tense standoff with co-passengers before exploding online.
The incident, which reportedly unfolded late on Saturday night, took place close to AIIMS Metro Station on the Yellow Line of the Delhi Metro, police sources said.
In the video clip doing the rounds, the woman and other commuters are seen pressing the CISF man to unlock his phone and show his photo gallery. As pictures of the woman surface in the gallery, voices rise and passengers demand that he erase the images.
The footage shows Delhi Metro passengers confronting the CISF personnel, who at first denied having taken any photos. But when the woman and others in the coach insisted he open his smartphone’s photo gallery, it became clear he had indeed captured the pictures, as reported by Hindustan Times.
That moment intensified the confrontation, which soon turned physical. The woman was heard saying, “What is this? Delete my photos.”
Commuters tried to wrest the CISF personnel’s phone from him, and he resisted.
The accused personnel was suspended shortly after the incident became public, the CISF said in a post on X. An inquiry into the matter has been ordered.
“A matter has been reported regarding the alleged misconduct by a CISF personnel towards a female passenger in a metro train. The CISF has viewed this with utmost seriousness at the highest levels. The concerned personnel has been placed under suspension with immediate effect, and a detailed inquiry has been ordered,” the Delhi Metro unit of the CISF said.
The central agency further noted that appropriate action will be taken based on the findings of the inquiry.
