Bhubaneswar: In the wake of the widespread violence in the north-eastern states on the enactment of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), BJP on Sunday said that it will convene meetings with intellectuals in Odisha.
“We will convene meetings with intellectuals in all the districts of Odisha till December 31. We will visit all refugee camps and tell the inmates that CAA will relieve them of religious exploitation,” BJP in-charge of Odisha Arun Singh told the media here.
Criticising the Congress and Communist-ruled states for oppositing the new Act, Singh said BJP will stage counter agitation in these states.
Talking about the violence in West Bengal after the passing of the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, the BJP leader took a swipe at the West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. “The West Bengal Chief Minister has no faith in democracy. BJP strongly condemns her stand,” he pointed out.
