New Delhi: The Supreme Court will hear a plea filed by UPSC aspirants on Monday. The plea sought the postponement of the upcoming Civil Services exam for two to three months, in the wake of flood/rainfall in parts of the country and the prevailing COVID-19 pandemic.

A bench of justices AM Khanwilkar and Sanjiv Khanna will hear the petition.

The petitioners’ lawyer had told media last Thursday that notices have been issued to respondents (UPSC and Centre). However, in the order that was later uploaded on the court’s website clearly said that the judges only agreed to hear the matter without issuing any notice.

As many as 20 UPSC aspirants filed the petition against conducting of the Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination on October 4.

“Conducting the aforesaid examination across India at such perilous time, is nothing else but putting lives of lakhs of young students (including Petitioners herein) at utmost risk and danger of disease and death,” the plea said.
