Cuttack: Chief Justice of India (CJI) NV Ramana on Saturday dedicated the ‘Aain Seva Bhavan’ of the Odisha State Legal Services Authority (OSLSA), here to the people.
Speaking at the inaugural function of the Bhavan, the CJI appreciated the initiatives of the Orissa High Court and the OSLSA in the field of legal services and expressed confidence that with the addition of the ‘Aain Seva Bhavan’, the legal aid movement in Odisha will gain momentum. He thanked the state government and the Advocate General of Odisha for their interest in improving the judicial infrastructure.
Stating that the cause of legal service was very close to his heart, he said guarantee of equal justice forms the core beliefs of the framers of the Constitution. Highlighting the importance of selfless service in the legal aid and justice delivery, he quoted Utkalmani Gopabandhu Das and said a person’s lives are measured by deeds and not days.
Chief Justice of Orissa High Court Dr Justice S Muralidhar said he and the judges in the Odisha State Legal Services Authority and the High Court Legal Services Committee will strive to ensure that no person is denied justice.
Justices Vineet Saran and Justice UU Lalit of the Supreme Court also spoke on the occasion.
Later, the CJI went on a brief tour to the High Court’s newly established Record Room Digitization Centre and other important places.
