Keonjhar: A student of Class 1 sustained critical injuries after being allegedly assaulted by seniors inside the hostel of his school in Odisha’s Keonjhar district.
Identified as Satya Munda, son of Biju Munda from Baidabaja village under Dumuria panchayat, the boy was staying at the hostel of Ashram School at Toranipokhari in Ghatagaon block.
According to sources, two students of Class 5 got into an argument with the Class 1 student. Following this, the two seniors allegedly inflicted severe physical injuries on him such as scalding him with an iron road, tying his private parts with a string and injuring one of his eyelids, among others.
The seriously injured child was admitted to Community Health Centre (CHC) at Patna, whose staff informed police. He has been shifted to District Headquarters Hospital at Keonjhar, where he is under intensive care.
This incident allegedly occurred when the guard was sleeping. The teacher who should have been present at night was also absent.
After the family was informed, they immediately reached the hospital and filed a complaint with the Ghatagaon police. Inspector-in-charge (IIC) is overseeing the investigation by the Police. Officials went to the school to interrogate the Class 5 students.
The victim’s skin has lesions due to being pulled by a string, possible scalding by iron rods and his right eye lids are swollen in an attack by two Class 5 students, police said.
