Class IX Hostel Student In Karnataka Gives Birth To Baby; Warden Suspended
New Delhi: A Class IX girl living in a hostel gave birth to a baby at a hospital in Karnataka’s Chikkaballapur city. The warden of the hostel has been suspended and the police have registered a POCSO case in this regard, India Today reported.
Investigations into the matter revealed the girl, enrolled with the social welfare department’s hostel, had irregular attendance and used to pay frequent visits to a relative. She had also undergone a medical checkup in August last year, despite which, her pregnancy was not revealed went unnoticed, the report added.
According to the details, the girl had joined the hostel a year ago in Class VIII. Sources told India Today that the girl also had a connection with a Class X boy. Both the students attended the same school.
However, after completing school, the boy obtained a Transfer Certificate (TC) and moved to Bengaluru.
Krishnappa S, Joint Director, Social Welfare Department, Tumkur, said, “The kid was not coming to the hostel for a long time now. She is from Kashapura in Bagepalli town. She went to the hospital complaining of stomach ache, and that’s when they got to know about the pregnancy,” according to India Today.
The police said they were actively searching for the boy.
Further investigations into the case were underway.
