Rayagada: In a shocking incident, a class X girl student allegedly died by suicide over online gaming at Ganapatiguda village under Ramanaguda area in in Odisha’s Rayagada district.
As per preliminary information, the girl had been actively engaged in an online gambling game and had reportedly won Rs 4 lakh prize. However, the associated online platform reportedly failed to release the prize money, leaving the girl severely distressed.
The student, who was studying in Ramanaguda High School, had recently appeared for her Class 10 matriculation examinations.
Family members of the girl claimed that online game led to the unfortunate incident. They also raised allegations over the unethical practices of such gaming platforms.
As per the complaint lodged by the family with the police, the girl was found hanging in the house after being unable to receive the prize money from the online gaming platform.
Following the report, local police, along with the forensic team, have initiated an investigation at the incident site.
Authorities are looking into the financial transactions and online activities of the deceased to ascertain the details surrounding the case.
The incident has sparked concerns regarding the increasing influence of online gaming on young students and the potential risks associated with unregulated digital gambling platforms.
