Class XI Students In Odisha Attend School After 18 Months

Bhubaneswar: After a prolonged gap of 18 months, all high secondary schools in Odisha welcomed Class XII students on Thursday.

Classes will be conducted between 10 am and 1.30 pm. Hostels for these students has also been reopened.

These students had attended school for about two months while in Class X but the offline classes were discontinued following. a surge in cases in April.

According to the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) issued by School and Mass Education Department, an induction session for orientation of the freshers will be held on the first day.

“The students are coming to Higher Secondary Schools from far off places for the first time after admission. They missed their annual HSC Examination 2021 and could attend only 80 days of schooling in the last 18 months. Some of them may be in a difficult situation caused due to pandemic COVID-19. They need to be welcomed and counselled regarding the academic, curricular and co-curricular activities,” it said.

The students will be introduced to their proctors who will guide them about their subject combination, group and timetable for classes.

The students will be informed about the CHSE, Odisha, syllabus (www.chseodisha.nic.in) and availability textbooks for Plus II Arts, Science and Commerce on https:/www.textbookbureauodisha.in in PDF form, the notification said.

They will also be briefed about the career portal (http:/lodishacareerportal.com) which has details of 550 opportunities.

All freshers have to attend classes in proper uniform by November 1. A temporary identity card will be provided to them.

With the government keeping the option of online learning open, the schools have been asked to share details of live streaming of classes on YouTube.

The CHSE, Odisha, has also notified the new pattern of assessment to be introduced from the current academic session (2021-22) for continuous learning evaluation of students of both Class XI and XIl.

The school authorities have been asked to form internal squads to maintain discipline on campuses while classes are being held. “Hostels should be given special attention to avoid ragging and maintain hygiene and sanitation,” department secretary Satyabrata Sahu directed.

The higher secondary schools will also be required to hold parent-teacher meetings at regular intervals to make parents aware of the progress of their wards.
