Bhubaneswar: Aparajita Sarangi endeared herself to the denizens for her measures to transform Bhubaneswar’s profile during her tenure as the city’s municipal commissioner.
Her enviable reputation came to the fore once again on Friday as the Bhubaneswar MP took to her official Twitter handle to slam the BMC. She posted a photo of garbage being littered on a major thoroughfare, wondering if the sanitation wing has been rendered defunct.
While moving in Bhubaneswar today I was apalled by the sight of heaps of garbage lying everywhere. Wondered what had happened to the Sanitation Wing of BMC. It seems an absolute breakdown of administrative machinery. Will have to look into this once Parliament session ends. pic.twitter.com/ApR8phMd8L

This was enough for BMC to swing into action as she also declared her intention to look into the issue once the ongoing Parliament session was over.
Her Tweet came as a big slap on BMC’s face, which keeps its social media platform engaged with pictures of cleanliness drives in various wards.
On Friday afternoon, BMC replied to her with a photo of the area being cleared of the mess.

Thanking BMC, Aparajita in her evening Tweet suggested launching of an e-vigil app with GPS coordinates where citizens can upload pictures of garbage heaps.
Thanks @bmcbbsr .This has to be a regular exercise and in all parts of Bhubaneswar. Would request BMC for an e- vigil kind of app ,with GPS coordinates, where citizens can upload pictures/ videos of garbage heaps. #Swachh Bharat- Swachh Bhubaneswar ought to be our goal. https://t.co/n1mmflNUNc
